
Each year on the 17th of April the world reaches out to the bleeding disorder’s community to raise hope, awareness and understanding about Hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, by celebrating World Haemophilia Day. This date was chosen as it is the date of birth of Frank Schnabel, founder of the World Federation of Haemophilia.
Fatimid Foundation celebrates World Haemophilia Day every year and this year also a Symposium was arranged at Beach Luxury Hotel to spread awareness and understanding about Haemophilia and related issues & complications. A distinguished panel of experts while highlighting the continuous advances in treatment also tried to bring understanding and attention to the issues related to proper care of Haemophilia to the wider public.
The program started off with Tilawat-e-Quran-e Pak and this was followed by Naat Rasul (saws), both were recited by Haemophilia patients from Fatimid Foundation. Welcome address was given by Dr. Waleed Bin Azhar, COO of Fatimid Foundation COO Fatimid Foundation and Secretary of the Trust who welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed him and the audience about the role Fatimid Foundation has been playing since 1984 in providing quality and timely free treatment to all Haemophilia patients that are registered with Fatimid Foundation.
Later Dr. Syed Aijaz Ali Zaidi shed light on Oral care and Dental hygiene for the hemophilia patients. Dr.Syed Aijaz Ali Zaidi is an Assistant Professor of oral medicine at Baqai Medical University.
The patients and attendees were next greeted by Dr. Muhammad Kamran who is consultant gastroenterologist at Baqai Medical University, he explained Gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with bleeding disorder. After Dr. Muhammad, Dr. Shabneez hussain (consultant haematologist, Fatimid Foundation) explained Point-of-care joint ultrasound in Hemophilia.
Dr. Shabneez Hussain also shed light on the strengths and limitations of Point-of-care joint ultrasound. She ended her speech by thanking Fatimid Foundation for taking care of all the Haemophilia patients and the government for the grant that helps these patients. All the Doctors used multi-media to carefully highlight the details of what they wanted to convey to the audience, making everything crystal clear.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Akbar Najmuddin who is Director, Haemophilia department, Fatimid Foundation.
The event came to an ending with the distribution of certificates and shields among those who contributed in this Symposium by their participation. Gifts were distributed among all the attendees.
